Today's "silk flowers" are no longer made of silk. Some are made of plastic, look like it, and cannot be found in our shop – avoid the peril of seeking the lowest price! However, today’s ingenuity has created reproduction flowers that are so well done that they can be incorporated into a floral design of fresh flowers, and only the most alert eye can tell the difference. Our limited stock of artificial blossoms, greens, and stems are changed seasonally, and "silk" arrangements are often created by our artists, often incorporating blossoms and stems specifically ordered for the arrangement. A common fallacy prevails that artificial designs will provide longer-lasting bouquets. After a month or so, the artificial design needs to be refreshed or "dusted" to maintain its attractiveness -- so in most cases, the cost of three or four fresh designs is approximately the same as the higher-cost artificial arrangement (once refreshing is included) and the refreshing benefit of real flowers is realized!

Zinnea Bunch --- Most popular artificial floral design, pre-made, has been our small bouquet of zinneas, highly colorful, just $10, often purchased for bedside cheer. |

Seasonal Stems – While many flowers have year-round appeal (roses, snap dragons, even the ubiquitous stargazer lilies [pictured]) the world of artificial flowers enables non-seasonal availability – blooming poinsettias in mid-July! A limited stock of artificial stems is always available in the store, usually consistent with the season, and floral designs can be created with additional stems quickly |

Containers for “Silk” Designs -- Usually, customers have their own, or specify a specific container to be enhanced with an artificial floral design. Some prefer to browse our extensive stock of pots, baskets, and metallic containers, choosing something new. And of course, the standard tall clear glass vases (shown) set off a silk design beautifully. |

Individual Stems -- One advantage of using artificial flowers is a virtually unlimited supply of the same blossoms, like green belles of Ireland.. Recently, for example, a customer sought fifty tall Gerbera Daisy stems to be placed in a trough that would “march along” a particular corridor – realizing fresh gerberas wouldn’t last! |
