Pots, Pots & More Pots: Choices

Posted on August 1, 2009 in Uncategorized

Summertime provides a good excuse to do some house-cleaning! We've been attacking our storeroom where "extras" get stashed, so now there's a plethora of pots available at very reasonable prices -- see the pix as example. Especially in smaller apartment-house settings, selection of the pot is almost as important as the flowers contained therein -- come brouse among the best!
...........Are there guidelines or "preferences" in containers? No easy answer here. Obviously, there are some pots that are so lovely themsevles, the flowers need be only de minibus. An example is on our web site among the first favorites -- take a look!
.............And then the relation of the container to its location is important -- a huge tall vase in a tiny corner seldom works. And then there's the relation of the floral design to the vase, too. A rule of thumb is that flowers should be roughly twice as tall as the container, but there's deviation from the "rule" more than not.
......................What's best? An afternoon at the National Gallery should generate ideas about your own likes and dislikes, your sense of form, your appreciation of depth and shadow, etc. That's what makes the floral design in the pot fun to get, to appreciate, and to cherish as a memory -- just like the first kiss, the memory can often grow more fond with time when you've recieved or given lovely flowers in a lovely vase!

- Du är så sjukt otroligt duktig. Har aldrig sett så fina bilder som dina. Ibland kan jag bara gå in på din blogg och scrolla ner bilder för bilder fastän jag sett dem flera gånger förut, de är som rena sagoberättelserna. <3

Red roses for Valentine's Day... flowers toruhghout the year vary seasonally... and by arrangement. He knows that I'm not a HUGE flowers girl, but I do appreciate "different' flowers and he usually does a good job picking out the non-traditional flowers (:

I just love flowers, especially roses, I find it very romantic despite its thorns. I “won” the heart of my then mother in law to be when I brought her a dozen roses one Mother’s Day many years ago. But my secret wish up to this time is to receive flowers from my husband. I got flowers from my son & daughter in law in Vegas two years ago for my birthday. I’m not sure if Frederick MD Florist has a contact office or person here but I think my son & wife ordered the flowers thru the internet. My son & his wife had a good laugh when I told them about my secret wish, & that all I ever got from their dad was a “talunang manok, fighting cocks being his one great love, aside from me, of course,( I would like to think.) Well, love comes in many faces.

I want to know how much it cost you to have flowers at your iwddeng. I am thinking about having roses. How much did it cost you to have flowers at your iwddeng? What type of flowers, and was it through a florist. Now on a second note, I know how to make boutonnieres and corsages on my own, and bouquets.. So we were just gonna by bunches of roses and do it ourselves. =) I am trying to figure how much we are saving based on how much you guys spent on flowers for your iwddeng.
